What runs on the screens?

Whatever you want to show – ScreenWay is open to any content: moving images, static notices, live data, interactive elements and QR codes can be combined as you wish. Typical building blocks include welcome and information texts, wayfinding, notices and promotions, event information, product and service presentations, educational and explainer videos, live weather, news or social media walls. Content can be controlled differently per screen, area or time period.

Do we have to create all the content ourselves, or do you produce it for us?

No, you don't have to do everything yourself. ScreenWay comes with standard content that is updated automatically – including seasonal themes. You manage your own content (logo, notices, opening hours, promotions) yourself if you wish. For bespoke image films, explainer videos or presentations, we offer on-site production on request – as a basic option with a compact shoot or as a professional package including interview, editing and social media versions.

Can live data and our existing systems be integrated?

Yes. Via open APIs (REST and Webhooks), ScreenWay can be connected to third-party systems – industry-standard booking and management systems, calendars and scheduling tools, ERP and point-of-sale systems, databases and specialist applications, Active Directory and identity providers. Standard modules deliver weather, news, RSS, social media walls and stock prices directly from the CMS. We connect industry-specific protocols and standards as soon as that becomes relevant to your use case; we implement custom integrations for in-house systems on request.

How easy is content maintenance in everyday use – do we need IT skills?

No. Content is managed in a simple web dashboard – similar to a photo or video collection. Images, videos and texts are uploaded, assigned to a playlist and allocated to a screen. You can change notices or promotions in seconds, and new content appears immediately on all screens. Time-controlled content (different content in the morning than in the afternoon) and campaigns scheduled for entire weeks or months in advance are also possible. Anyone who can send an email can operate ScreenWay; training your team usually takes less than 30 minutes.

What hardware is included in the standard setup?

The starter package includes a 4K professional screen (43 inches, 500 cd/m², for 24/7 continuous operation), the ScreenWay media player based on a compact mini PC with an Intel Alder Lake N97 and ScreenWay OS, as well as all the necessary cables and mounts. Optionally, 55" displays, alternative brands (e.g. the Sony BZ series) and wireless e-paper solutions are available for special spatial requirements. We will determine together which configuration suits your use case during the consultation.

Are touch displays, video walls and outdoor installations possible?

Yes. In addition to standard displays, we support touch screens for self-service kiosks and interactive stations, synchronised video walls made up of multiple displays for staged wall experiences, portrait-format steles for wayfinding, and wireless e-paper displays for sensitive spatial situations. For outdoor areas, we use weatherproof outdoor displays rated IP-65 with high brightness (up to 3,500 cd/m² for direct sunlight). Audio content can be delivered with zone-precise targeting via sound showers or a headphone connection.

What happens in the event of an internet or power outage?

Accepted Answer

Content is stored locally on the media player (typically around 30 GB) – if the internet goes down, your programme continues to run without interruption. In the event of a power outage, the media player automatically restarts thanks to the integrated watchdog mechanism as soon as power is available again – without anyone needing to do anything on site. As a rule, you and your visitors won't notice a thing. Time-controlled start-up and shutdown times can also be configured.

Can we use existing screens?

Yes. In principle, ScreenWay works with standard TVs and professional displays of any common brand; the media player is simply connected via HDMI. For 24/7 continuous operation, however, we recommend our professional displays – they are built for it and last significantly longer than consumer TVs, which are typically designed for just a few hours of daily operation and can show their first failures after 12–18 months.

Is ScreenWay GDPR-compliant – and how secure is our data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All data is processed on European servers, and a data processing agreement (DPA) is a standard component. Connections are encrypted, and the system is regularly checked for security vulnerabilities. Personal data can be anonymised or replaced with neutral identifiers such as queue numbers and initials. For regulated industries with special requirements, we offer audit logs, on-premise options and integration with SIEM systems such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.

Which legal and compliance requirements are met?

ScreenWay meets key legal requirements across industries: advertising law and medicinal product advertising rules, food and price labelling regulations, accessibility standards (the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the European Accessibility Act), accounting retention requirements, requirements for critical infrastructure, and ISO 27001 as a security standard. We will determine together during setup which requirements are specifically relevant to your organisation and configure the system accordingly.

How accessible and multilingual is the platform?

ScreenWay is designed in line with the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG): large-font and high-contrast modes, audio descriptions via headphone connection or QR code retrieval, subtitles for video content, lower touch height for wheelchair users, and support for sign language videos. More than 20 languages can be combined on a single display – including right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. Language switching happens automatically by time of day, through connected third-party systems, or via touch by the visitor themselves.

How quickly is ScreenWay ready to use – and what support is included?

As a rule, ScreenWay is ready to use within an hour. Connect the display, connect the media player via HDMI, pair it with the Wi-Fi – done. You don't need an IT specialist or any changes to your existing infrastructure. Telephone, email and remote maintenance support are fully included in the rental model – at no extra cost. Software updates and security patches arrive automatically; in the event of hardware defects, you receive a replacement within 24–48 hours.

Can multiple locations be managed centrally – internationally too?

Yes. Via the ScreenWay dashboard, you manage all locations from a single login. Global content (brand elements, cross-site campaigns) can be combined with locally individual content (location-specific notices, regional adjustments) at the same time. Role-based access allows each location to manage only its own content, while head office retains an overview at all times. ScreenWay is used in the DACH region and internationally; all content can be delivered in multiple languages, and the CMS is available in German and English.

What does ScreenWay cost – and how are the contract terms structured?

The starter package begins at €96.00 net per month – including a 4K professional screen, media player, standard content and service. In certain configurations, the software alone is available from as little as €8 per screen per month. The minimum term is 12 months; after that, the contract continues on a monthly basis and can be cancelled at any time. With longer terms (24 or 36 months), the monthly price is reduced further. There are no hidden costs – hardware, software, support and hardware warranty are all fully included in the rental model.

Can we test ScreenWay risk-free – and is it better to buy or rent?

Yes. We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee – if you're not convinced, you can return it risk-free. This lets you test ScreenWay in real operation, with real visitors and content, before you make a final commitment. With the rental model, hardware, software, updates, support and hardware warranty are included throughout the entire term – usually the simpler option. With a purchase, you acquire the hardware as a one-off cost (43" professional display from approx. €730), while the software licence runs separately on a monthly basis. We'd be happy to determine which option is more cost-effective in a personal consultation.

My use case isn't described on your website – does ScreenWay still fit?

Most likely, yes. The fields of application described on our website cover the most common enquiries – but in reality, ScreenWay runs anywhere you want to show content for employees, customers or visitors. Can ScreenWay also be used for employee and emergency communication?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Employee screens in entrance, break and lounge areas provide information on internal topics – shift schedules, announcements, safety information or promotions – controllable separately from guest-facing communication, with their own permissions management. In a crisis, emergency content can be delivered organisation-wide or selectively: evacuation instructions, weather warnings, alarm messages or instructions from external authorities. Activation happens via an app in seconds, optionally automated through integration with MoWaS, NINA or in-house alarm systems. This makes ScreenWay an integral part of your safety and communication infrastructure.

Can we switch to ScreenWay from another digital signage provider?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Switching from another digital signage provider is routine – we have migrated customers from Samsung MagicInfo, Scala, easescreen, dimedis, Heinekingmedia and proprietary in-house developments. We usually take over existing content (videos, images, PDFs) without conversion; we reconstruct playlists and scheduling together with your team. Existing professional screens can often continue to be used – only the media player is replaced. We plan the transition phase in parallel: the old and new systems run together for a few weeks until you're satisfied with the new setup. This means there's neither a display gap nor any risk to ongoing operations.

Where does ScreenWay stand on sustainability, energy consumption and life cycle?

Accepted Answer

Energy: our media players require around 6–12 watts in operation (comparable to an LED bulb), and professional displays are specified at 80–150 watts depending on size and brightness. Time-controlled start-up and shutdown further reduces consumption at night and on weekends; presence sensors switch screens on only when needed. Life cycle: professional hardware is designed for 7–10 years of continuous operation – instead of the 2–3 years of a consumer TV. Print savings: an average facility saves several thousand printed notices per year – noticeable in terms of both resources and cost. For CSRD or ESG reports, we document the carbon footprint on request.
